Perfume veteran, Carl Zeitz explains how all the right notes came together to create the perfect union of romance and modernity in this new fragrance.
What makes the top notes of Love, Anne so special?
The secret is bright citrus…this is what your senses first experience from Love, Anne. Sparkling Bergamo actually stimulates the mind and opens your heart. You can’t get more romantic than that. It also promotes uplifting feelings. It blends with a touch of Mandarin – which has always symbolized longevity in love and marriage and is linked to good fortune and eternal love. Both these essences are mixed with passion fruit, but the real joy comes from the floral middle notes.
Tell us more!
The flower that has always symbolized commitment in marriage and love, as well as beauty and peace is the Hyacinth. This then combines with the Tiare flower, known as the flower of love. In fact, for centuries, Polynesian women have worn fragrant white flower on their heart side to symbolize they were engaged, or on the right side to show they are searching for love, just as our wedding bands symbolize. There is also a hint of Peach. Did you know Taoist magicians used petals of peach blossoms to put men in an intense trance of love? Even the base notes, the scent of vanilla, instantly attracts and inspires us to love. The sweet scent comforts us and evokes us to find eternal love through marriage. Musk heightens passion and Golden Amber is a rich, aromatic scent that intoxicates the senses and is known for attracting long-lasting love.
What about the founder of Anne Klein, was she a romantic?
By all accounts designer Anne Klein was an amazing, dynamic woman who loved life. She was a visionary designer who originated the concept of a fully coordinated closet, providing a uniquely American point of view to the global fashion industry. Her trademark separates became the hallmark of a purposeful and stylish wardrobe. And, she was a Leo, after all, a fire sign. This fragrance is really her love note to women everywhere and a continuation of her legacy - the final accessory that she puts on every single day.
Can wearing Love, Anne lead to life full of romance?
I can’t personally guarantee that, but we’d certainly like to think so!
