Lifestyle,
Here’s what’s top of mind this month.
SUPERIOR SEASIDE The Florida Panhandle holds a special place in Atlantans’ hearts— and, apparently, the Prince of Wales is also a fan. He’s the author of the foreword in the new Reflections on Seaside (Rizzoli), a book by architect, author and urbanist Dhiru A. Thadani. For over 40 years, Seaside has been a respite for many and the pinnacle example of new urbanism in America, and this mix of essays, old photographs, reflections on new additions and more will have you craving a trip ASAP.
DRINK UP New at Ponce City Market is Eleven TLC (eleventlc.com), a wellness cafe using only the best in ethically sourced, organic ingredients for teas, lattes and caffeine (hence the TLC), and vegan soft serve. Founded by Hea Won Chun Harris and Charles Harris, the shop aims to deliver on the holy grail: good-for-you drinks that taste good too. Of particular note is the effervescent adaptogenic sparkling beverage section, where teas are infused with a host of high-quality ingredients like lion’s mane mushrooms, dandelion root and milk thistle to support energy, stress, focus, performance, beauty and more. You can also dabble in ceremonial matcha offerings, lattes with benefits and seasonal tea-tails. Looking for a sweet treat? Try the dark chocolate vegan soft serve with ashwagandha for a dose of satisfying health.
YOU’VE GOT MOXI Fractionated wavelength treatments are all the rage, but the downtime can be brutal. For anyone looking to dip their toes into laser treatments to help with uneven pigmentation, tone, texture, aging or sun damage, there’s now MOXI, available at AYA Medical Spa (ayaskincare.com). More gentle than other types of laser procedures, it’s even a great option for those looking for what MOXI calls “prejuvenation”—that is, preventative aging. AYA Medical Spa’s mini empire extends to five Atlanta-based locations, so you can book conveniently.
SIP ’N’ SEE
The Ginger Room is now open in Alpharetta, serving specialty tea blends, local roasts and fresh juices. Choose from an authentic midday afternoon tea or traditional British high tea with more than 30 local, national and international tea blends available. Located at the Skelton-Teasley House, a famous 165-year-old Greek Revival-style home, The Ginger Room provides guests with a unique environment in which to sip, indulge and sample an extensive retail section of tea, coffee, honey, toffee, chocolate, candles and fascinators by local artisans. “After visiting and falling in love with a very special tearoom in London, we knew we had to bring the experience to Atlanta,” says co-founder Angela Avery. “Finding the Skelton-Teasley House was pure providence because it’s the perfect location to marry the tradition and history of high tea with our 21st century, modern, innovative and healthful ginger menu.” 61 Roswell St., Alpharetta, the-gingerroom.com
TRANSFORMATION STATION In practice for over 10 years, Elizabeth Rowan of The Alchemy of Yoga (thealchemyofyoga.com) can help heal much of what ails your body or mind through yoga, rituals and more. The benefits of yoga have long been celebrated, but Rowan brings a special touch to her clients, meeting them where they are at, often literally in their homes or virtually. “Yoga has the power to reacquaint us with our physical, emotional and spiritual selves,” she says. “It’s a medicine for the soul far beyond toe-touching or party tricks: It’s subtle, powerful and leads you to a healing, transforming and compassionate relationship with yourself and others.” Her offerings include private yoga practice (also available virtually), a customized rituals guide, and spiritual and wellness coaching, where she can help expand whatever you need in your life, from money to self-worth. “The last year brought shape-shifting, evolution and freedom to my business,” she says. “I support private clients on a journey into their heart, spirit, energy and body via reflection, rituals, movement, self-exploration and ceremony to reclaim their sacred self. We can be in different locations and still easily connect and stay flexible in every sense of the word.”
BLISS OUT
Atlantan Ilana Alberico, along with co-founder Christina Stratton, is bringing a revolutionary way to spa to self-care enthusiasts. Spa Space (spaspaceapp.com) aims to connect providers and facilities with guests for a more personalized experience. Users are able to input specific preferences and the app will suggest locations and expert providers that meet those requirements, including things not often found on spa menus. Spa Space, which benefits the customers, spas and therapists, recruits the best and brightest therapists for on-demand scheduling at a network of beautiful spa locations, making spa a more integrated part of your life, rather than just for special occasions
