As part of an exclusive savoir-faire experience, Louis Vuitton invited us to the iconic Plexus r+d-designed home at 241 W. Paces Ferry Road. This multiterraced home showcases the best of modern design with intriguing exterior and interior elements, and provided the perfect backdrop for showcasing the house’s collections in situ. And in true LV fashion, nothing was held back—the presentation revealed and amplified the unparalleled design and craftsmanship that goes into each and every Louis Vuitton piece. From handbags and hard-sided trunks to Objets Nomades, jewelry and watches, LV’s most limited-edition items were curated and displayed in this exclusive setting. Though many of the heritage pieces deserved oohs and aahs, Louis Vuitton’s men’s fall/winter 2021 collection became the object of my desire. The launch of Virgil Abloh’s collection, titled Ebonics, was powerful in more ways than one. “From head to toe, our minds are inherently trained to outline an archetypical wardrobe to help us identify the character of an individual,” says Abloh. “Often, these characters are tied to societal presumptions of culture background, gender and sexuality.” With this collection, Abloh works to champion and continue the difficult cultural conversations we had last year. “We sat through so many heavy conversations in 2020, some so heated that things can’t be discussed anymore. But fashion can do this. Shows can do this.”
