After his older brother saved his life by carrying him on his back for miles to the nearest healthcare center in his home country of Cameroon, Dr. Mboh Elango decided to become a doctor. He values accessible healthcare, which is evident at his newly bowed MEDICI Urgent Care and Wellness Center, which bowed earlier this year.
It’s a blend of both holistic—think IV vitamin therapy and acupuncture—and traditional medicine. Dr. Elango emphasizes that this blend “optimizes wellness,” he says. The well-rounded healthcare experience is made complete by ancillary offerings such as massages, yoga and reiki. “Our practice is designed to bridge the gap between traditional primary care and local emergency rooms, with emphasis on patient-centered care and patient-involved decision-making,” he says. “We understand that wellness is a lifestyle, not a fad.”
While his resume is impressive, Dr. Elango notes that it’s his “resilience, persistence, determination and compassion” that have gotten him far. Plus, his obvious passion for helping his patients be well, and a similar passion to empower the next generation. To him, “mentorship is very important. We want to make sure MEDICI’s approach to health and wellness becomes the norm,” he says. Be on the lookout for additional locations mirroring MEDICI’s success: CASAMEDICI will launch in 2023 and PALAZZETTOMEDICI in 2025.
