Assorted menu offerings at Steak & Grace, located in Dunwoody Village

A new neighborhood restaurant from acclaimed Atlanta restaurateur Barry Mills has just arrived in Dunwoody Village. Highlighting fire-cooked steaks, indulgent seafood dishes and crave-worthy libations, Steak & Grace puts a fresh, contemporary spin on traditional steakhouse dining with a straightforward wine program, a relaxed atmosphere and a lineup of tempting fare—from grilled New York strip steak with chimichurri to citrus-topped Faroe Island salmon.

Well-known for concepts like FLIP Burger Boutique, HD1 and Big B’s Fish Joint, Mills aims to cultivate an authentic, approachable culinary experience at Steak & Grace while incorporating aspects of fine dining in a relaxed, family-friendly, neighborhood-focused setting.

“I prefer restaurants that deliver on service, food quality, interesting design and other things that go into a dining experience but with a little more casual approach,” Mills says. “There are several traditional steakhouses in the perimeter area, so we want to differentiate ourselves with the atmosphere and diverse menu. We want this to be a neighborhood gathering place where you don’t need a coat and tie. We believe this warm and welcoming style will attract guests of all ages.”

Executive chef Conor O’Reilly, formerly of Fifth Group Restaurants, has curated a menu comprised of steaks, seafood, chicken, large salads and sandwiches, along with ample gluten-free, keto and dairy-free options. By serving a wide array of composed plates and curbing a la carte sides, Mills strives to provide a more affordable and accessible meal.

The restaurant offers a daily lunch menu, complete with hearty salads, burgers and sandwiches, and a weekend brunch menu is currently in development. Fresh steaks, delivered daily, are accompanied by sides, sauces and desserts, all of which are made in-house.

The dinner menu boasts starters like cold water mussels with Spanish chorizo, Dijon vinaigrette-topped beef tartare, roasted squash soup and butter lettuce salad with mandarin oranges, shaved carrots, radishes and Green Goddess dressing. Entree selections include bolognese, dry-aged steak burgers, butter leek-topped filet, wagyu New York strip steak, Berkshire pork chops, hanger steak and frites, pasture-raised chicken breast and Faroe Island salmon, prepared Hong Kong-style with baby bok choy and winter citrus.

To top it all off, diners can indulge in dessert offerings like a Meyer lemon tart with toasted marshmallows or an éclair with pastry cream, dark chocolate ganache and Marcona almonds.

Formerly occupied by First Watch, the 3,500-square-foot space features abundant natural light, a light color palette, sprawling windows, a spacious patio and a cozy outdoor fireplace. The open floor plan accommodates lively social gatherings, elevated with upbeat music and welcoming, laid-back environs.

“We are excited to bring a restaurant with broad appeal to Dunwoody. We invite guests to come for a quality meal and a warm, welcoming vibe, but leave the coat and tie at home,” says Mills.

In lieu of a saturated or over-complicated wine list, Mills says the restaurant’s “well-curated wine list will pair very well with the menu, with plenty of by-the-glass options.”

In addition to wine offerings, the restaurant’s spacious 15-seat bar will serve craft cocktails and brews, with details for happy hour currently in the works. At Steak & Grace, Mills hopes to foster an atmosphere akin to his Sandy Springs seafood spot, Big B’s Fish Joint.

Mills concludes, “We’re envisioning a neighborhood restaurant with broad appeal that’s welcoming to everybody. At Big B’s, we have regulars of all ages who come in every week, and that’s what we are excited to do in Dunwoody.”
