People,

Queen Elizabeth II

After 96 years of life and 70 years of reign, Queen Elizabeth II has passed.

The longest-reigning British monarch in history was a contentious figure throughout her life, but no matter whether you found her an inspiration or a villain, her influence and personage will not soon be dismantled or forgotten.

So much change happened in the U.K. and the world at large during her generational reign. Queen Elizabeth II oversaw the tumultuous “troubles” in Northern Ireland that spanned three decades, as well as the recent Brexit of the U.K from the greater European Union. She sat on the throne as Africa was decolonized, met five Popes, and gave birth to a daughter and three sons, the eldest of which has just been made King Charles III.

She was both a ruler and a pop-cultural icon, holding a unique place in the hearts and minds of millions around the world. Her face is one of the most famous in the world, printed on British pound notes and flaunted on the cover of the Sex Pistol’s banned No. 1 hit of the late ‘70s, “God Save The Queen.” She even became the subject of the Golden Globe-winning Netflix original series The Crown, which recently announced a pause in filming following the Her Majesty’s death.

Queen Elizabeth II was a fashionable woman by default, and as the remembrances come pouring in from admirers across all walks of life, remarks are often made about her grace, poise, power and strong sense of duty to her kingdom and its people.

She is remembered by just as many stylish brands as she is by her subjects, political peers and fellow Brits. Gucci remarked on “her dignity, strength, and hope.” Aston Martin called her “a passionate champion for British culture.” Hear more of the luxury world’s remembrances for the late Queen below.
