Home & Real Estate,

Let’s face it, nobody likes packing for vacation.

pack.JPGEverybody is familiar with that overwhelming feeling of “where do I begin” when staring blankly at their empty suitcase.

Lucky for you, Imagine it Done’s Lisa Jacobs is here to make this dreaded task a little bit easier.

No matter if you are going on a weekend trip upstate, or a three-week vacation to the Coast of Italy, Lisa has your back.

  1. Invest in packing cubes. They will allow you to categorize your items neatly and make it easier to unpack when you get to your destination.
  2. Categorize into days. When you begin packing for a trip, think about how many days/nights you’re going to be gone for, and what respective outfits you will be wearing. If you’re like us, you most definitely aren’t an outfit repeater!
  3. Check the weather! You would be shocked at how many people don’t check the weather of the destination they are going to and have to end up buying more clothes upon arrival. It’s always better to be prepared.
  4. Think before you pack up. Don’t overpack and don’t bring items that you haven’t tried on in a while. It will just end up taking up valuable space in your suitcase. It’s less about packing quantity, and more about packing thoughtfully. What pieces can be repurposed to create an entirely new outfit?
  5. Place shoes in dust bags and line the perimeter of your suitcase, making a neat row alongside the cubes. It’s always the worst when you can’t find your favorite shoe’s mate!
  6. Roll and fold clothing in the cubes. Tightly roll softer, wrinkle-resistant garments. We recommend bringing a steamer with you regardless, but this method will reduce the time spend on that arduous task.
  7. Cover the top of your suitcase with a laundry bag. You will use this to separate your dirty clothes while traveling.
  8. Store inexpensive jewelry in pouches and soft jewelry cases. If you are taking important/valuable items with you, make sure you wear rather than pack them, to ensure they won’t get lost or stolen.
  9. Try and use a soft suitcase, rather than one with a hard shell. You will be able to fit more.
  10. Don’t forget a luggage tag! It would be an absolute tragedy if you lost your new Prada beach bag.
