Breakthrough Atlanta Fund-A-Scholar

In celebration of Breakthrough Atlanta’s 25th anniversary, it’s hosting Fund-A-Scholar in an effort to raise funds to change lives through education. Picturing the South: 25 Years

The High Museum of Art celebrates 25 years of its ongoing photography series, Picturing the South, with a brand-new commission from Sheila Pree Bright, Jim Goldberg and An-My Lê. The exhibit has been running since 1996, displaying established and emerging photographers creating new bodies of work inspired by the American South, covering a variety of topics, prevailing themes and movements, including racial and national identity. The Legendary Party

The Shepherd Center Foundation hosts its largest fundraising event, The Legendary Party, this year themed The Legend of the Looking Glass. Honoring Shepherd Center co-founder David F. Apple Jr., MD, the party is held annually on the first Saturday in November to provide personalized medical treatment, research and rehabilitation for people with spinal cord injuries, brain injuries and more. Funds raised will support the Delores Ann and Goodloe Yancey Family Housing Program. The event will feature elevated meals, a short program and dancing. 7-10PM, shepherd.org

Chastain Park Arts Festival

In its 10th year, Chastain Park Arts Festival will feature fine art and crafts, including up to 185 fine painters, photographers, sculptors and much more. This free event is organized by the Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces and volunteer artists, and benefits a scholarship fund for local artists. The Atlanta Opera, Julius Caesar

Loosely based on events during the Roman Civil War, this opera follows the love affair between Julius Caesar and Cleopatra in which the pursuit of power both torments and unites.
