Miami’s world-renowned Museum of Graffiti is bringing its traveling exhibition “Sneaker Stories” to Atlanta from May 31 to June 2, presented by Modelo. Located at Ponce City Market, the free immersive installation dives into the 20-year-long cultural and historical evolution of shoewear-artist crossovers. It showcases original art and sneaker collaborations between acclaimed graffiti artists like Futura, Cey Adams, Eric Haze, Claw Money and Faust and iconic brands like Reebok, Nike and Adidas—some of which go for upward of $20,000 on the secondary market.

“Through ‘Sneaker Stories,’ we aim to celebrate the artists from the global graffiti art movement who have transitioned from the streets to appear inside the biggest companies in America, like Nike, Reebok and Adidas, and influenced countless others along the way,” says Alan Ket, co-founder of the Museum of Graffiti. “Thanks to our partnership with Modelo, we’re able to bring this unique cultural exploration to Atlanta, inviting the community to uncover the stories behind the art and the artists who have routinely been stigmatized due to the negative connotations surrounding spray paint.”

Displayed as a faux shoe store, the installation will offer high-caliber items from the museum’s gift shop, like rare books, apparel and limited edition collectibles. Courtesy of Modelo, guests can also visit the complimentary sneaker personalization bar to customize their favorite footwear staples with vibrant buckle plates, charms and laces.

“Modelo can’t wait to kick off this ‘Sneaker Stories’ exhibition alongside the Museum of Graffiti,” said Rene Ramos, senior vice president of brand activation at Constellation Brands. “The relationship and inspiration the sneaker world and the graffiti artform have with each other truly embodies the grit and tenacity Modelo is all about, so it’s exciting to see that come to life in this exhibit.”

In honor of the pop-up, Atlanta-based graffiti artist and muralist Dr. Dax will join visual artist Cey Adams for their “Fighting Spirit Stories” collaborative discussion panel on Saturday, June 1, accompanied by a limited edition print release and signing.
