People,
Thirteen of Resurgens Surgery Center’s 23 surgeons
Located on Peachtree Dunwoody Road in the Pill Hill area of Sandy Springs, Resurgens Surgery Center has served as a leader in outpatient and minimally invasive joint and spine surgery for three decades. Established in 1990 by Dr. John Garrett, founder of Resurgens Orthopaedics, the center offers a myriad of orthopedic procedures designed to get its patients moving again. Its impressive list of specializations includes: sports medicine surgery, joint replacement (hip, knee, shoulder and ankle), minimally invasive spine surgery, nonsurgical spine procedures, knee and shoulder arthroscopy, hand and upper-extremity surgery, and foot and ankle surgery. With its focus in minimally invasive procedures, patients can see optimal results, such as smaller scars, faster recovery time, fewer pain medications and even improved outcomes. It’s no wonder Georgia residents continually choose RSC over its competitors.
Medical Director Dr. Paul Jeffords
For the past 30 years, Resurgens Surgery Center has remained a front-runner in orthopedic procedures, including outpatient joint and spine surgery, across the Southeast. Serving as medical director of the top-tier surgical center is Dr. Paul Jeffords, a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon specializing in minimally invasive spine surgery. “It’s such a pleasure to bring patients to such a well-run facility, knowing that they are going to receive the utmost specialized and expert care,” says Dr. Jeffords. From the preeminent surgeons and staff to the advanced facilities and its vast range of cutting-edge procedures, RSC continues to command the field. “Our goal is to provide first-class surgical services in a safe, welcoming environment, one in which we would be happy to treat our own families,” adds Dr. Jeffords, who celebrates his 15th year with the Resurgens family this year. Joining Dr. Jeffords in providing cutting-edge procedures is RSC’s impressive lineup of 23 highly skilled surgeons and physicians (read: Doctor’s Orders), who, as a group, perform over 6,000 cases in the center yearly.

To go along with its successful roster of physicians, nurses, administrators and many others who make RSC run so smoothly, the 23,000-square-foot surgical center recently underwent a major expansion and renovation. Stretching over the eighth floor of the 5671 Doctor’s Building, the surgical center first unveiled a stunning new lobby and reception area in March 2019. While a majority of the overhaul was completed, which includes brand new pre- and post-op patient care areas, patient and family recovery rooms, and a new procedure room, the center remained open, operating fully throughout the entire renovation. Nearing total completion, only a few finishing touches remain on the impressive renovation, including upgrades to the central sterilization and supply areas, which are scheduled for a May completion.
While its top-notch facility and offerings prove quite impressive, there is one thing that sets RSC apart from other facilities—and it’s not something one can learn from a textbook in medical school: Resurgens Surgery Center puts the patient first. Providing patient-focused care, the doctors and staff put the patients’ needs, concerns and well-being first. “The patients are our inspiration,” says Dr. Jeffords, “and our staff is committed to creating an environment where patients not only receive the best-quality care, but also the highest level of services.” But what’s most clear is that the staff and doctors at RSC truly care about their patients—a rarity that continually places this company above the rest in patient care.
With a recently debuted facility renovation, it is clear that Resurgens Surgery Center is gearing up for another 30-plus years of patient success to come. 5671 Peachtree Dunwoody Road NE, Ste. 800
