MICAELA ERLANGER AND WILLIAM “MAC” OSBORNE were set up on a blind date in 2016 by a friend, and three months later began dating. Micaela had been set up on many dates by this friend, but this date turned out to be different—she had an instant connection with Mac. “He caught my interest right away,” she says. “Three months later, he moved into my apartment, and the rest is history!” Mac proposed in 2018, at a very sentimental spot. For one of the couple’s earliest dates, they took a weekend getaway to East Hampton, N.Y., where Mac took Micaela to a private beach; two years later, this would be the sweet spot for his proposal. After getting engaged, the couple began planning their wedding with hopes of tying the knot in New York, where they were based. “We had planned to have a two-year engagement but didn’t expect the pandemic to hit. While we eloped during the height of it all, it was four years till we finally had our wedding,” Micaela says. “We chose the venue before the pandemic, but in 2020 found ourselves stranded visiting family in Miami, unable to return to New York. The next thing we know, we relocated to Miami and bought a condo. It is so crazy to think we got married in our new city that we can call home.”
The wedding arrangements did not go as planned, of course. COVID-19 struck, causing several obstacles in the planning process. “Our wedding was originally set to take place in NYC in October 2020, then with the pandemic, we moved it to Miami in October 2021. As things continued to get bad, we decided it would be easiest to elope,” Micaela says. “Our first attempt at eloping failed when they closed the borders, but we tried again and headed to St. Barts for an intimate ceremony just for us, and we pushed out our ‘sequel wedding’ date to April 3, 2022, in Miami.”
The venue Micaela and Mac chose for their Miami wedding was Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, where they could host 200 guests. “The first time I saw Vizcaya I got goose bumps. You feel like you are in Lake Como,” Micaela says. “Th e extraordinary estate is set against the backdrop of the sea and has the most beautiful gardens.” The wedding included special touches like a musical performance by Grammy- and Oscar-winning artist Common, who performed the couple’s recessional song. Micaela’s childhood friend and Oscar-, Grammy- and Tony-winning composer Justin Paul also performed. Th e reception included even more showstopping performances and experiences. “In addition to the very special performances by Common and Justin Paul, and a surprise performance from Deborah Lippmann, we had amazing ensembles for our wedding music—from a 10-piece string orchestra and singer for our ceremony to a six-piece ensemble for cocktails and dinner to the amazing Taylor Pace Orchestra for the reception,” Micaela says. “We also had dancers with several costume changes leading the guests through transitions in the space. Jordan Kahn Music Company blew everyone away!”
Standing alongside her bridesmaids, including actress Lupita Nyong’o, in shades of seafoam green, Micaela wore custom Prada throughout the magical night. She had several outfit changes, which is fitting for the stylist. “As a stylist, I have had the honor of working with so many brands over the years for my red-carpet clients,” says Micaela. “When I got engaged, I picked up the phone and called my favorite friends at Prada. I was elated when they offered to make my wedding gown, reception dress and afterparty outfit.” The trio of looks went perfectly with the wedding’s color scheme of romantic greens and whites, with hints of blush and gold accents. The couple’s inspiration for the wedding theme came from the romance of a lush Italian garden. “Every detail, from floral to stationery and place settings, was chosen with the intention to maintain a delicate balance of luxury and simplicity,” Micaela says. “It’s important to us that when we look at our wedding photos in 20 years, the decor and design still feel classic and beautiful. We wanted our wedding to feel like an elegant and formal garden affair at our own private Italian mansion (at least ours for the night!).”
The night ended with Micaela in a custom Prada fringe skirt and bralette, paired with comfy Aquazzura sandals perfect for dancing the night away. As violinists played “Don’t Dream It’s Over” by Crowded House, the couple departed in a Bentley GT convertible to live their very stylish happily ever after.
