When moving to Columbus from Belgium to work for the W.C. Bradley Company, the Oliviés had their hearts set on living the same walkable lifestyle they had before. As luck would have it, the W.C. Bradley Company is located in the heart of Columbus’ downtown where the mighty Chattahoochee River and a 25+ mile Riverwalk are just one of its many amenities.
A short block away from the WC Bradley Company is its riverfront Eagle & Phenix Mill. The circa 1851 historic cotton mill was the second largest cotton mill in Georgia. In its over 150-year history, the mills had various functions and different owners. In 2003 the mill was repurchased by the W.C. Bradley Company and immediately began restoration. Five of the six buildings were restored to both apartments and condominiums.
The Oliviés fell in love with the historic riverfront buildings at Eagle & Phenix Mill and moved into a fourth-floor condo in 2010. Three years later, the couple purchased a second, adjacent condo on the fourth floor and began their home renovation. They planned to bring their modern, European vision to life while still maintaining the mill’s historic architectural features.
The condo was designed by Paul Gibson of Barnes Gibson Partners and constructed by Steve Anthony. The artistic and European design can be seen throughout each room in the home. From the Dornbracht fixtures in the Master Bathroom and its two-story Master Bedroom closet to the Pedini Kitchen with Miele and Gaggenau appliances and LSI Museum track lighting throughout. The modern finishes and amenities in the home have been thought through for a modern-comfort living that boasts one of the Southeast’s best views.
A lot of Atlantans are finding themselves ready for a slower, more simple lifestyle.
This modern, riverfront condo in Columbus, Georgia’s downtown offers a chance for convenience and relaxation. The three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom condo has two balconies overlooking the mighty Chattahoochee River where rafters, kayakers, and paddleboards can be found daily. The condo is nestled downtown where in walking one block more than 30 locally owned and operated restaurants, multiple boutiques and shops, and the Georgia State Theater exist.
Mr. Olivié has recently retired and since listed their condo for sale. This beautiful condo, listed at $1.4 Million offers an opportunity for less traffic, more peace but the same city-style fun Atlantans love.
