Noted cosmetic dentist, influential philanthropist and loving mother to two beautiful daughters, Dr. Bahar Nia never ceases to amaze. With this past March marking her revered Buckhead practice’s third anniversary, we go back to where it all began for this accomplished Atlantan.
“Some of my earliest memories are around my father’s dental practice. From the time I was 4 years old, I would visit my dad and see him in action,” recalls Dr. Bahar Nia, one of Atlanta’s foremost cosmetic dentists. “I knew by the time I was in high school that dentistry was my calling and I would follow in his legacy.” Flash forward 30 years, and a lot of schooling later, this fashion-savvy Atlantan’s teenage self was right about one thing: Dentistry was her destiny. So in 2008, after a stint in Houston for a post-dental school residency, Nia and her husband, a fellow dentist (and former college classmate), chose our fair city to plant permanent roots—and the rest is history.
Over the next decade, the native Iranian dedicated her time and expertise to servicing pockets of needy areas around metro Atlanta, while also growing her two-person family into a beautiful family of four. And with the arrival of their second daughter in 2015, Nia made the admirable choice to take time off to be with her young children. But it wasn’t long before the brunette beauty was ready to jump back in and start making waves in Atlanta’s dental scene again.
In March 2018, Nia’s dream to follow in her father’s footsteps turned into reality as she opened the door to Buckhead Cosmetic & Family Dentistry practice as the founder and clinical director. “When I was ready to return to my passion, I had to make sure that as a mom of young children I could balance practicing dentistry and still have a healthy work-life balance,” says the decorated dentist. “It was a natural step for me to build something that resonated with me and embodied the fit and finish I thought my patients deserved,” adds Nia of the centrally located office on Pharr Road. “Everything in our office is centered around comfort,” says Nia of the comprehensive practice, which offers its patients a wide range of leading dental treatments, state-of-the-art technology and access to top specialists. “When a patient enters this environment, I hope they can see and feel that no detail was spared.”
One step inside the bespoke dental practice can certainly attest to that fact. From the custom scent (yes, you read that right) that greets you when you walk through the door to the seamless blend of upscale, accessible and calming design aesthetics to striking architectural elements, Nia far exceeded her vision to give patients a full sensory experience. “It was all executed with a central goal of creating a luxe, soothing, nondental feel,” she adds.
With this past March marking Buckhead Cosmetic & Family Dentistry’s three-year milestone, the dedicated doc takes time to reflect on why she chooses to continue following her father’s path. “Having the ability to give dentistry to people in need, just like my father has done for 40 ongoing years, is such a blessing. There is so much more joy in giving than receiving and I’m proud to continue in my parents’ philanthropic footsteps,” says the charitable Atlantan. “My hope is that I can lead by example for my girls so that one day they might continue the family legacy and pay their successes forward.” Brains, beauty and generosity?
