Austin Kevitch is a tech entrepreneur, app developer, creative director, and current CEO & founder of Lox Club.

After a painful breakup and even more painful experiences on dating apps, Kevitch decided to start from scratch and create his own world of online dating, Lox Club, in November 2019.

Below are Austin’s expert tips and tricks for creating a dating profile that will stand out amongst the rest.

Tip #1: Go a level deeper on your prompts.

The details are where your personality and weird quirks shine. Don’t just say “I like sushi.” Give me your go-to order at your favorite spot.

Tip #2: When it comes to photos, candid feels more authentic.

Who doesn’t love a good personality pic? Add a photo that has a good story behind it, or shows you in your element. Not every photo has to be you being hot in different locations.

Tip #3: Show your sense of humor.

I cannot stress this enough, quoting The Office does not count. Not every prompt needs a witty answer (would not recommend) but a flair here and there goes a long way.

Tip #4: Let your prompts be conversation starters.

Share your hot takes, unanswered questions, unexpected hobbies, your go-to 2 truths, and a lie, etc. Let your prompts be your icebreakers for others to start a convo with.

Tip #5: Keep group photos to a minimum.

Yes, you can show you have friends. No, don’t make it hard to figure out who you are. Bonus tip: your first photo on your profile should be just you.

Tip #6: Be upfront with your deal-breakers

If you hate cats, chances are that dating someone with a lot of cats isn’t going to work out. I’m not not speaking from experience. Being open and honest about your preferences can save you (and your potential matches) time and energy.

Tip #7: Honesty and vulnerability are sexy.

For the career and ambitions section, don’t pretend you’re a billionaire with a private jet. Be unapologetically yourself!! We’ve all been interns at some point. The right person will appreciate it.

Tip #8: On the flip side, don’t overshare.

Think of your profile as a teaser trailer. Don’t spoil the ending with details that are third (or tenth) date material. We’ll let you be the judge of that.

Tip #9: Variety is the spice of life.

Mix up your photos and framing so the collection feels like an accurate representation of you. One close up, one further away.

Tip #10: Don’t take it too seriously.
