SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film presents "Cinematic Couture," an exhibition focusing on the art of costume design through the lens of film and popular culture. From November 20 2018 - March 4 2019. More than 50 costumes created by the world-renowned London firm, Cosprop Ltd., provide an intimate look at garments and millinery that set the scene, give personality to characters and establish authenticity in period films.
The films represented in the exhibition depict five centuries of history, drama, comedy, fairy tale and adventure through period costumes worn by such film stars as Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Drew Barrymore, Keira Knightley, Nicole Kidman and Kate Winslet. "Cinematic Couture" showcases costumes from 24 acclaimed films, including Academy Award-winners and nominees "Titanic," "Sense and Sensibility," "Out of Africa," "The Duchess" and "The Danish Girl" as well as award-winning British television series "Pride and Prejudice," "Downton Abbey" and "Victoria."
The costumes in this exhibition come from the more than 100,000 costumes and accessories created by the renowned British costumer Cosprop Ltd. Founded in 1965 by John Bright, an award-winning costume designer, Cosprop specializes in costumes for film, television and theater, and employs a staff of 40 experts in designing, tailoring, cutting, fitting, millinery, jewelry-making and repair, and dyeing and printing. Cosprop maintains an extensive library and a collection of original garments used as source material, ensuring that any production undertaken by Cosprop is historically accurate. Like their period prototypes, these opulent costumes are crafted of sumptuous fabrics and decorated with intricate embroidery and lace.

Art lovers looking to begin or expand their collections should mark Friday, January 25, 2019, on their calendars in preparation for Huff Harrington Fine Art’s annual A Grand Affair exhibit which features work from gallery artists priced under $1,000.00, but it is not a sale. It’s an art exhibit within the confines of a price point. The show is open to the public from 6 – 8 p .m. on Friday, January 25th with complimentary sips and nibbles being served and ends on February 2, 2019. The show will spotlight original paintings by gallery artists such as Andree Thobaty, Susan Kinsella, Ellen Rolli, Ignat Ignatov, Charles Ross, and Geri Eubanks, among others. Also on display will be Heritage artwork - vintage French paintings that Huff Harrington collects and curates on their trips to France.
“This show is a great opportunity for art lovers to begin or add to their collections,” says gallery co-owner Ann Huff. “These are original pieces, many painted specifically for the show, from artists whose price points are generally much higher. We’re also excited about our Heritage collection which adds a vintage, curated aspect to our selections.”
Huff Harrington Fine Art is located at 4240 Rickenbacker Drive, Atlanta, GA 30342. The gallery is conveniently located off Roswell Road in Buckhead, adjacent to the Chastain Square Shopping Center. More information is available at www.huffharrington.com or by calling (404) 257-0511. Huff Harrington Fine Art is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment.
