Asbury Automotive Group President and CEO David Hult
Ever since coming to the Atlanta area in 2007, Asbury Automotive Group has been a favorite among locals choosing to buy both new and pre-owned cars. Its world-class customer service and expansive collection of luxury, imported and domestic vehicles have long made it Atlantan’s first choice in automotive retailers. Now, Asbury is becoming the entire nation’s first choice with the historic acquisitions of Larry H. Miller Dealerships and Total Care Auto as well as Stevinson Automotive. “2021 has been an unprecedented year of growth for us,” says Asbury President and CEO David Hult. “These new stores strengthen our team and significantly increase our cash flow, which will allow us to increase our investment in our company, our people and our community.”
Upon acquiring the eighth-largest automotive dealership in the U.S., Larry H. Miller Dealerships, for $3.2 billion in December, Asbury grew from the sixth-largest automotive retailer in the nation to the fourth largest based on sales. Asbury recently went on to acquire Stevinson Automotive, increasing its presence in the Rocky Mountains. The acquisitions grow Asbury’s total revenue from $8 billion in 2020 to a pro forma revenue of $16 billion. An additional 54 new vehicle dealerships and expected synergies of $65 million are only the start of what Asbury expects will be a highly advantageous merger. The move allows Asbury to continue its efforts to expand its ESG footprint, including 33% of its board of directors being women and their weighty involvement with philanthropic ventures. “Asbury’s growth means that there will be more opportunities to give and also volunteer,” shares Hult. “On top of their regular PTO, all of our employees get an additional 40 hours a year of paid volunteer time so they can give back to organizations their markets have partnered with. In Atlanta, we work with City of Refuge, 100 Black Men of Atlanta and Declared Underprivileged Troubled Youth.” Between its pro forma 155 dealerships, impressive ESG initiatives and mission to be the most guest-centric automotive retailer, Atlanta can be proud that Asbury calls us home. asburyauto.com
