A Look Inside Rose & Rye

Laura Finney | February 8, 2018 | Food & Drink

The Castle, one of Atlanta’s favorite historical Midtown treasures, is now home to your new go-to, Rose + Rye.

Rose + Rye’s salted, cured and shaved red beets are topped with a sage buttermilk cheese and garlic oil.

What makes this reincarnation of the landmark building isn’t just the food, the drinks or the ability to broaden your horizons on a Tuesday in Midtown, but it’s the all-star female staff. Proprietor and Atlanta native Thaddeus Keefe of 1Kept Kitchen & Bar is helming the project, but he’s hired out a female executive chef, general manager, assistant general manager, sous-chef and pastry chef, making the restaurant noteworthy all before talking food. Vichyssoise; seared snapper with celery root puree, Anson Mills farro and a wild cherry reduction; and chicken mole with crispy rice patty and wilted kale all make the dinner-menu cut. Three floors have something for every type of diner— “The Grotto” first floor is a great place to grab a drink (try the winking Garden of Eden with gin, elderflower, strawberry shrub and lime) before catching a show at Woodruff Arts Center; the main floor, for power business lunches; and the third floor, for swanky private events (holiday party, anyone?). Look for brunch service to ramp up in January.
