WHAT'S NEXT
Returning to Atlanta (while splitting his time in New York City on Broadway) as the associate artistic director of City Springs Theatre
“I live in the exact same house I was born in, right at the base of Kennesaw Mountain. My son has my former bedroom. It’s great because I’ve lived on and off in New York for 30-plus years, but it’s always nice to be able to get out of the big city and back to your roots. I spent about four months in London last year, and, this year, I’m doing The Ferryman on Broadway. It’s extraordinary how the talent pool in Georgia is so extensive. When I was younger, everyone said if you wanted to be an actor, you had to go to New York or Hollywood. I see that changing with quality productions and theater in Atlanta that rival New York. For me, I see the possibility to live part time in Georgia with my family and also be on Broadway. It’s an amazing time. When kids ask me if they have to move, I say, ‘No, you just need the experience of being onstage.’ My goal and my role for City Springs Theatre is to work with local talent and bring talent from New York so they can start networking. I think it’s really important to give back.”
