Natural skincare company Privai is the perfect blend of friendship, stellar business instincts and beauty for co-owner Ilana Alberico.
Founded in 2006, Privai is a natural skincare company—and a force to be reckoned with, thanks to its two owners, Christina Stratton and Atlantan Ilana Alberico. The two met serendipitously and are what Alberico calls “a match made in heaven. I oversee the spa consulting and management side, and she oversees the production and design side.”
Asheville, N.C.—Alberico’s hometown (she lives and runs the business side of things in Atlanta now with husband Vincent of Natural Sleep Mattress and their two children)—was the perfect place for such high-quality products to begin. “The area is rich in organic farms, and we have a team that has been with us for years who actually still handpours products,” she says. What started in the brand’s spa treatment rooms—the team tested products in its first spa in Asheville and has since expanded to branded Privai Wellness + Spas, including a flagship at the Royal Palm South Beach in Miami—manifested to today’s success as the pair knew they wanted to be “obsessively dedicated to sourcing the purest and most effective ingredients we could find.” That means things like naturally derived kojic acid in the skin-brightening serum and carrot carrier oil in the anti-aging face and body oil. “We wanted to create a line that embodied what it meant to be unapologetically feminine, to embrace beauty and results, and to create a product portfolio that seamlessly embraced wellness,” Alberico says. “Privai is spa life in a bottle.”
The company gives back to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and womenforwomen.org, while also thinking forward on products that deal with “hormone issues, vitality, sleep and CBD oils,” says Alberico. “Privai is not just a skincare line, it’s a complete wellness mindset.”
