Keinon Johnson is Atlanta Man of the Moment

Lauren Finney | March 28, 2019 | People National

Vice president of urban promotion
at Interscope Records
Supporting the arts in Atlanta as a newly elected board
member at High Museum Of Art

“My good friend [artist] Fahamu Pecou invited me to be on the board after I did a few activations with the High in the past—I helped curate a campaign to bring a new audience to emerging exhibits, most successful was the Iris van Herpen event [in 2015 and 2016]. We had an amazing turnout that delivered a diverse multicultural audience of all ages and backgrounds, and from that point, we steadily built a great relationship. When it came time to recommend new board members, I was recommended. Atlanta’s a city where everything is intertwined—art is not separate from music, nor is it separate from fashion. It’s finally to the point where we’re actually extending our arms to each other and making things happen on a bigger level, as opposed to being separate as it was in the past. We’re bringing together more entities and using our resources to bring new audiences into the fold, which is always a good thing. There are also some big things in the works for me on the horizon, personally and professionally—I can’t reveal them just yet—but I am looking forward to them.”
