There are few places in this well-tread world that actually feel remote and effortlessly private. The journey to Petit St. Vincent, a 115-acre private island resort idling in the Caribbean’s southern Grenadines, requires some time and effort, but the rewards are immediate and abundant, beginning with dockside refreshments on arrival. Only 22 stone cottagelike villas dot the perimeter of the island (six of which boast two bedrooms; the rest are singles), ensuring that, even when the resort is at capacity, guests feel as though they’re on a secluded holiday. Given the island is refreshingly tech-free, a charming flagpole system outside each villa functions as the de rigueur mode of communicating with hotel staff (a yellow flag for requests, red for privacy). Not that you’ll miss the Wi-Fi while dozing under a beachside palapa or indulging in an open-air Balinese deep-tissue massage. One-bedroom villa $1,260-$1,980 per night, two-bedroom villa $1,785-$2,641 per night
