Atlanta is ushering in spring with fresh, new collections and products hitting the market. Make sure you are up-to-date on the latest and greatest!
Modern Holistic Skin + Spirit, now open in Inman Park, focuses on reducing inflammation, the root cause of aging and other skin conditions.
Ready, Set, Glow
Amy Leavell Bransford’s goal is that Aviary Beauty + Wellness Collective stays on the cutting edge for clients seeking next-level facials. This year, the skincare haven in historic Old Fourth Ward became the first spot in Georgia to offer products and facials from Luzern, a luxury Swiss skincare line made with Alpine-grown ingredients high in antioxidants. To get acquainted, try the spa’s signature Serum Layering Facial (60 minutes from $150), during which an esthetician will layer on a custom cocktail of three to four potent Luzern serums from a range of nine in the back bar, including a collagen booster, a 15 percent vitamin C serum to combat aging, and stem cell-infused peptides to plump fine lines. Each has a low molecular weight to penetrate deep into the skin—rather than sitting on top—for a lit-from-within glow you can nurture with the full line of serums and a curated selection of preferred cleansers, moisturizers and creams available in retail. Bransford’s favorite? Nuit Hydra enzyme masque ($125). She says, “I call it my overnight HydraFacial.” 659 Auburn Ave. NE, Ste. 125
Time-honored techniques are revered for a reason: They work. At Jamie McDowell’s new Inman Park studio, Modern Holistic Skin + Spirit, she’s leveraging ancient Chinese medicine and ayurveda modalities, such as facial cupping and foot reflexology; integrating ancient beauty tools like gua sha, gemstone rollers and the kansa wand; and utilizing her training in Dr. Vodder’s Manual Lymphatic Drainage ($80, Thieme), which involves removing stagnant fluid from underneath the skin’s surface. “Holistic beauty can be defined as accepting and honoring one’s true authentic beauty,” explains the former lead esthetician for Exhale Spa at Loews Atlanta. “This philosophy is all about reducing inflammation, which is the root cause of aging skin and skin conditions,” she says. Using the ultrapure Laurel Whole Plant Organics skincare line, each facial (60 minutes from $125) begins with a healing sage burning ritual (“to clear out the negative, stagnant energy,” she says) and continues with products and movements tailored to clients’ unique skin conditions and goals, from boosting radiance to relieving congestion. What you won’t find in her soothing, relaxation-inducing space? Machines to perform the magic her own hands can. “Machines don’t reduce inflammation,” notes McDowell, who spent more than two years intensely researching a purely organic approach to skin health before opening her skincare studio inside The Full Circle Studio in late 2018. The budding glow guru will host on-site workshops throughout the year, teaching clients to perform their own healing rituals at home. 24 Waddell St. NE
Worth Its Weight
Brand-new to the market and based in Atlanta, ORO24Karat—dubbed The Gold Standard of Skincare—is a fresh and modern approach to the anti-aging properties of gold. As one of the most precious metals in the world, gold has long been considered to be not only luxurious, but to have anti-aging properties, with its mystique dating all the way back to the original beauty influencer herself, Cleopatra. Helmed by CEO and co-founder Eliad Shwartz, a veteran of the skincare industry, the line is rife with little luxuries for anyone looking to upgrade their skincare routine in a big way. Try the Moisturizing 24K am day cream ($55) with hyaluronic acid and collagen, or the Rejuvenating 24K eye cream ($65) with rosehip oil. No matter which you choose, your skin will be good to glow in no time. $35-$185
