The Children & Nature Network held their 8th Annual Enlightenment Luncheon, hosted by Laura Turner Seydel, Lisa Rayner Catherall and Stephanie Blank, at The Atlanta Botanical Garden on March 6, 2018. The Luncheon, following the theme Go Outside & Play, Connecting Nature & Our Children's Health, began at 11am with a cocktail hour and opportunity to learn more about the sponsoring organizations including Serenbe, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Fernbank Museum of Natural History and Greening Youth Foundation. After being welcomed by Laura Turner Seydel, guests enjoyed a meal prepared by Proof of the Pudding while listening to the keynote address by Sutter Health's Dr. Stephen Lockhart, who spoke on his personal experiences and why nature is important to children - and adult's - overall health. Sarah Milligan Toffler then lead a panel discussion and Q&A with speakers from Greening Youth Foundation, Fernbank Museum of Natural History, The Conservation Fund and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta about increasing children's access to nature. Partnering organizations donated offers for a raffle, and everyone left with a copy of Richard Louv’s book Vitamin N, courtesy of his non-profit Children & Nature Network.
